Icarus

"The life-and-death comedy of these five nearly lost souls mingles the poetic with the mundane as they all grope their ways clumsily towards their own visions of touching the sun. At its heart, Icarus is a desperate song of joy played out on a narrow strip of land between the wreckage of all that has come before and the mingled hope and terror of what comes next. It is the sharp intake of breath before a wild leap into the unknown—in the place where all dreamers live"

I acted as the Assistant set designer, working directly under professional set designer Christopher Heilman. My responsibilities included set dressing, the interior of the house, the shingling and communication between the TD and set designer. I was in charge of all ground logistics and spent lots of time on set crew as well.

We are Proud to Present

"In a small rehearsal room, a diverse company of 6 actors attempt to devise a performance about the first modern genocide – to chilling effect. Directed by acclaimed intentional theater-maker Shariffa Ali, written by Yale alum and Windham Campbell winner Jackie Sibblies Drury, We Are Proud to Present… is an incendiary, funny-until-it-isn’t play that premiered to universal acclaim and demands answers about the violence of erasure and the politics of performance. What histories and stories get told, and how do we tell them?"

I was the Assistant set designer, working directly under professional set designer You-Shin Chen. My responsibilities included set dressing, creating the shadow puppets and and the projection set up.

The Importance of Being Earnest

"A hilarious comedy of misunderstandings, passionate proposals, and cucumber sandwiches, Oscar Wilde’s THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST remains a theatrical classic. "

This was my first show with DRAMAT at Yale, I was assistant set designer and worked primarily on the foilage on set. This included a tree the top of which was 4ft by 4ft and was attached to a bookshelf, and then lifted into the air during the production. This tree was an experiment in using new materials while still maintaining the fire proofing requirements of Yale DRAMAT.

Shrek the Musical

The Yale Dramatic Organization put on Shrek the Musical for the commencement musical.

As Head Props Designer I hand made and fireproofed all the props in the play. The two main props were the Dulock head that was worn by an actor through a dance scene, and the 3ft Gingerbread Man puppet.

Ermeni

"October, 1970: When Armenian American college student Ani brings home her Turkish boyfriend Taner, an argument about history turns into a family crisis as Ani’s grandmother suffers a heart attack and must be hospitalized. Taner's unexpected friendship with a genocide survivor transports him into the past, into the lost world of Diyarbakir, in a journey towards truth, reconciliation, and the revelation of a family secret that has been buried for years upon years. "

I was one of two head riggers in this project, primarily responsible for hanging the three different roofing pieces that were attached by tension line. I was also personally responsible for developing and designing the petal drop system that would be used througout the performance.
